Hedge fund Kanou Capital receives FCA authorisation

Hedge fund Kanou Capital LLP has achieved authorisation from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), effective from 26 May 2026.

The London-based firm is a fundamental long/short hedge fund investing across sectors related to the energy transition, including energy, industrials, chemicals, mining, utilities, and technology. It has investment-related permissions. It was established in February 2024 and was previously an appointed representative of Capricorn Fund Managers.

Nishant Gupta holds the SMF27 Partner role. He founded the firm in 2024 after working at Clean Energy Transition from 2019, following roles at Fidelity Investments from 2008 to 2017 and TT International from 2017 to 2019.

Irakli Gabidzashvili also holds the SMF27 Partner role. He is an industrials analyst with experience in equity research, strategic finance, and M&A, and previously worked at TBC Bank PLC and KPMG Georgia.

Jonathan Cummins is listed in the same SMF27 Partner role. He is an industrials analyst and was previously head of research at Pantechnicon Advisors from 2021 to 2024, after 12 years covering industrial stocks at Fidelity, where he also served as assistant portfolio manager.
