NordCom Finance secures FCA authorisation to support SME funding across the UK

15 January 2026

NordCom Finance has received authorisation from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, effective 7 January 2026, marking an important milestone in the firm's development as an independent commercial finance broker.

Launched in 2018 as an Appointed Representative firm, now directly authorised, NordCom Finance arranges funding for small and medium-sized businesses, specialising in asset finance and business funding solutions. From Perthshire in Scotland, it works with a small but carefully selected and curated panel of lenders, the firm helps businesses access capital for vehicle and equipment purchases, working capital, and growth investment.

NordCom Finance is led by founder and managing director Gordon Larson, who moved into asset finance after a career in investment banking. He previously held positions at leading financial institutions including Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas and J.P. Morgan, before entering asset finance at EFT Finance in 2018 and joining Asset & General Finance in 2019.

Commenting on NordCom Finance's authorisation, Gordon said:

Ever since starting to work asset finance back in 2018, we have always been known for helping the micro-end of the SME world, and we are passionate about removing any barriers or restrictions to funding for any business, big or small! Achieving authorisation to deal with regulated firms in our own right was absolutely essential in keeping that goal at the forefront of everything we do, and the mission now continues to facilitate access to finance for all shapes and sizes of client.

In 2024, Gordon received the AFC Small Broker of the Year award at the AFC Summer Awards, sponsored by Allica Bank. The award recognised his contribution to the asset finance sector, which he entered just seven years earlier following his move from investment banking.

Gordon takes an active role in developing Scotland's commercial finance community. He was involved in launching the Guild of Business Finance Professionals in 2024 and established the Scottish Commercial Finance Conference, with the first event taking place in 2025.
